SENAI, VDMA and GPQI kick-start implementation of a GPL demonstrator in Brazil

Brazil

Kick off for the implementation of a Global Production Language (GPL) demonstrator for industrial plants the Industry 4.0 Center (Centro 4.0) of the Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais (Federação das Indústrias de Minas Gerais — FIEMG), German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau — VDMA) and Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) meet at demonstration factory.

The participants from the above mentioned organisations visited the demonstration factory at the Centre for Industry 4.0 in Belo Horizonte on 08 November 2022, where they got to see the demonstrator and asked questions about the plant.

The GPL demonstrator shows how a production process can be realised with machinery from different manufacturers. It  aims to demonstrate how interoperability can work in terms of machine-to-machine communication in automated production processes.

During the visit, the Centre for Industry 4.0 specialised staff discussed with representatives from Bosch, Festo, GRV Software, Infinite Foundry and Siemens which technologies could be used in the demonstrator. They also aligned next steps towards its implementation such as the analysis of the OPC UA Companion Specifications documentation for robotics and OPC UA 4 Machinery. In addition, they discussed how to include simulation of failures and replace equipment as well as the possibility of making it compatible with other demonstrators or other manufacturer’s plants.

The GPL demonstrator is expected to be ready by March 2023. It will be presented to German and Brazilian stakeholders during the German-Brazilian Economic Days in Belo Horizonte.

Please contact us if you want to engage in the German-Brazilian dialogue on QI and learn more about the GPL demonstrator.
