This month, four new Calibration and Measurement Capability (CMC) lines obtained mutual recognition agreements (referred to as CIPM MRA). They consist of two AC voltage scopes and two AC current scopes. Within the CIPM MRA, metrology institutes demonstrate the international equivalence of their measurement standards and the calibration and measurement certificates they issue. The agreement enables mutual international recognition of CMCs.

Indonesia’s newly recognised CMC lines were published by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIMP). This confirms the country’s competence to calibrate reference standard instruments for AC voltage and AC current. It applies to source-type equipment, such as multi-product calibrators, and multimeters, such as digital multimeters.

These CMC benefit industries that require measurement services in the areas of weak current electricity, strong current electricity, radio frequency electricity, time, frequency and wavelength. Example industries include automotive, shipping, telecommunication and medical devices.

Results of measurements in the exporting country are now comparable with those of the destination countries. This is important to reduce technical barriers to trade. Effective implementation of the international system of units protects consumers of local and imported products. The basis for this is valid and traceable test/measurement data.
