On 1 April 2014, a workshop on “Testing methods of determination of Chromium VI content” was held in Berlin hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as a part of a study tour about requirements for reference materials. A Chinese delegation, consisting of specialists from the local import and export inspection and quarantine offices from Shanghai and Shenzhen, and from the provinces Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, participated in this workshop.

The workshop was opened by Mr. Joachim Geiss (Deputy Division Head, BMWi) who emphasized the importance of the workshop for further proceedings of the project line.

Initially it was decided that the focus area of screening methods of other chemical elements should be broadened. In the following, both sides will consider in which context the joint research of screening methods can be implemented. Further workshops concerning this have been stipulated in China and Germany.
