CE Marking for Personal Protective Equipment: A practical guideline
India
The availability of safe and effective personal protective equipment (PPE) is crucial in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past months, the demand and supply of PPE, such as masks, face shields or coveralls, has increased significantly worldwide.
But what are practical tips for procurement bodies in India to check the authenticity of a CE marking on a face mask? And what requirements do Indian manufacturers have to comply with if they want to place their products on the European market?
This practical guideline provides orientation regarding the CE marking of PPE. It is aimed at manufacturers, users, and procurement bodies of PPE in India. The guideline includes information on what the CE marking is and how its authenticity can be assessed. It also provides an overview of the key steps in the process of affixing the CE marking on PPE according to European Union (EU) Regulation 2016/425.
It was developed in collaboration with the Central Authority of the German Federal States for Safety (ZLS) and TĂV Rheinland.
